These pieces do NOT snap into place, so if you're expecting a snap to indicate the pieces have sealed, you won't get it. We have never put down any of these types of floors before. We definitely needed something waterproof, and I liked the marble-look design we chose. The room is very small, so we sprang for the more expensive product since the cost wouldn't be very much for the small area.

We bought the Smartcore Pro to put in the bathroom of a small rental house we bought. So if you're not worried about trends, do consider it as it's easier on the wallet, feet, and joints, and handles moisture better than some other choices.

I also like how vinyl is much easier and cheaper to rip out and replace when it's time for an update or replacement down the road. At an open house, I saw a kitchen floor with new vinyl that was hard to tell wasn't tile. It looks a lot better than the old stuff. A lot of people turn their noses up at sheet vinyl, but some of them haven't seen the newer styles or luxury vinyl. Don't care what's popular or trendy right now (everything looks outdated at some point), I'd rather be comfortable, have something softer on the joints and warmer on the feet, and not spend all my time trying to clean grout lines. I am a rebel and had real tile ripped out in two baths and replaced it with sheet vinyl instead. The one I selected looks like tile, not one of the wood looks. Not sure what brand name it was, but know it wasn't Mannington. We just had some installed in a house we moved into. I would hate to see a perfectly functioning wood floor being mounted on a ceiling when the floor could be put to better use in someone else's home. It can't hurt and it will ensure you 'reuse' the old wood floor in the most beneficial way possible. You might find it more cost effective to purchase the appropriate ceiling wood and have the cost off-set by the tax donation to Habitat for Humanity. Then figure out how much a lower grade (thinner) T&G wood product would cost to have mounted on the ceiling. Check the costs of the two products + install to make sure the extra cost/effort is even worth it.

Remember that you are trying to install an expensive flooring product where an inexpensive 'decor' product would work. Expect some planks to split or the nails/staples having damaged the tongue groove. Plan on having 10% damage of the old floor during demolition.so re-evaluate the square footage to ensure you will have enough once the removal has occurred.

This will incur extra costs.so be prepared. You might have to have the finish removed from the old floor and a new finish put on once the ceiling is installed. This can be done so long as the original floor is a nail/staple in place AND you pay to have the workers work slowly enough that the old floor isn't damaged.
